The U.S. dollar recorded gains today against the euro as well as climbing up against the Japanese yen. These gains from the dollar comes as the Federal Reserve chose to leave funds rates unchanged today. Today the dollar made impressive gains leaping up to highs of $1.0964 against the euro.

Earlier on today, the Japanese yen lost strength against the American dollar. This was following a shocking introduction of a $265 billion stimulus package from the prime minister of Japan. This stimulus package is targeted at increasing the exports of the nation which happens to be the third largest economy globally.

The size of the stimulus package which is over 28 trillion yen ($265.30 billion) beat expectations of many analysts who had placed their expectations at 20 trillion yen.
